Alan Cook established the practice on 1st January 1989 with offices in Corporation Street, Belfast, close to the Clarendon Dock. The early years included a number of leisure and hotel projects in southwest England, in addition to a widespread portfolio of work throughout Northern Ireland.
The move to the Cottage Studios in Crawfordsburn took place in 1993. This afforded the practice more space and a picturesque working environment only twenty minutes from Belfast City centre. This enabled Alan Cook architects to combine a strong commercial province wide business, with a more local domestic architectural presence.
In April 2005 Alan Cook Architects became a limited company. Alan is the Managing Director and is joined by Christine Cook, Mark Allen, Tim Cook, and Mark Foster as directors. Currently the company has a total of nine members of staff including Chartered Architects, Senior Architectural Technicians and Project Managers through to newly qualified architect’s assistants and technicians. The Company also actively promotes a policy of employing students from both of the local universities. |
